Our campaign
This is a campaign about the safety of children going to and from school in the UK. We want to ensure that schools have safe pedestrian crossings, the roads surrounding the schools have reduced speeds imposed and that there are clear safely marked routes to school.
In an age where most households have two or three cars and cars are designed to go at higher speeds, we feel there is need to #makeitsafe for the children.
The UK has one of the highest child pedestrian injury and death rates in Western Europe and the developed world. This can no longer continue or be allowed. Most child pedestrian death or injury occur in the hours of 8 a.m to 9 a.m and 3p.m and 6p.m on a weekday, which happens to be when children travel to and from school.
Local Authorities in the UK decide by a criteria, which is normally outdated, whether a crossing should be built on a road.
What we want to do is change the criteria, so that schools if they so wish and if they are able to have a crossing near their school, should do so. Many schools around the UK wish for safe crossings, safety around their school and want to have safe routes to their school. They are not allowed to have these safety measures because the Local Authority will say that they do not fit the criteria.
Normally it always will come down to cost. Yet we feel that children are priority when we are dealing with cost. They are our future, they are vulnerable and we want
to give them a voice.
to give them a voice.
In a modern world, we need to get our priorities in the right places and Local Authorities are run by tax payers money and are here to serve the public. Therefore
we request that they listen, they respond in a positive manner and they will do all they can to #makeitsafe for the children of the United Kingdom.
Our campaign is run by volunteers, who wish to make it safe for the children.
We feel the need for change and if you feel you can help us, support us please get in touch by leaving a message on the comments.
